Today: Increased faith increases duty; Increased duty increases delight.
(or… climbing down the ladder to success?!?)

17th Sunday after Pentecost

HARD SAYINGS   – Following Jesus is not easy. He even called it, “carrying a cross.” And so some of the things he calls us to as his followers goes against our nature and the way our world thinks and acts. Normally, as authority and responsibility increase, so do the benefits and rewards. As a person climbs the ladder of success, the benefits lie before them and more people take orders under them. But not Jesus’ followers. Today, we learn that as duties increase, so does our delight… as we climb down the ladder of successservice!
